It's astounding how far the Hill&Knowlton/Bush combine can create this image, and bring along those on this and other threads that still cling to the idea they are somehow "represented" in Washington ... They get all the talking heads to nod in unison, with the "message of the day", and their own creative twist, which they get rewarded for with a little doggie bone.

I caught one making up his creative lie on the spot, at a Heritage Foundation panel discussion - an economics PhD whose responsibility was the dividend tax issue was asked "why didn't they just reduce taxes for the corp, instead of for the individual recipient?". Off the cuff he says, "well, probably because it would be too much of a burden on corps to track who they paid, too much paperwork". Ridiculous on its face, since corps aren't going to be in the position of tax collectors, it's up to individuals who receive any such revenue, say bond payments, to declare whether taxable or untaxable, and make their peace w. the IRS. But, hey! He tried to be the best lackey he could! It was lackeyism in action, caught on CSPAN. I should have taped it for instant replay.

It was amazing cooperative mindlessness under Reagan, now they've taken it to new heights.

The good thing, if there is one - This will innoculate the public on phony presidents, I suspect. In the future, whenever we get out of this bad dream, the public will demand a person who can actually respond to questions.

Unfortunately, it'll get worse before it gets better. The authoritarians in Washington are perfectly prepared for martial law, in fact probably welcome it. Therefore, if they succeed like Nixon did w. Vietnam protests to cause violence, they're ready this time to round up and neutralize large numbers into camps, all without news coverage.

There are however too many, and they'll fail. Too bad it'll probably get to that point.
