The funny thing is that taxes is a great motivator to make rich people LESS honest,

Yes the higher the tax rate the more incentive to look for loopholes and tax shelters, legal or otherwise. High tax rates do not just encourage dishonesty, they encourage hiding money in other countries (where it can't help our economy) and they encourage less efficient investment as the money is spent in ways to avoid taxes rather then it ways to get the maximum likely return.

Tench Rd....This is the key point that AS does not want to concede. It's like to him, taxes are some sort of tool to keep rich people honest.

The funny thing is that taxes is a great motivator to make rich people LESS honest, not to mention lots of upper-middle class citizens and small business owners.

Talk about less honest. Both AS and Ted are using a bogus article about how the richer have become so much richer lately. However that article is based upon a period from 98 to 2001, the exact period of the bubble in the Naz, and most of those noveau rich on that list, were there because of that bubble. If you took the time period from 2001 to 2002, using the same parameters, that study would show that the rich are going down comparatively just as fast as they went up. Just who do we think lost the three trillion dollars the market lost in the last 2 yrs, the poor? there is an old saying that figures lie, and liars figure. That saying would be appropriate here.
