Is there a connection? You bet. Gulf War Syndrome ..that and the threat of Saddam unleashing some bio nightmare. Shoot, the clean up crews on the WTC are suffering big time. it doesn't take much to throw flesh & bones out of whack. You think the higher ups really give a rat's ass about grunts out in the desert? Vets have been abandoned after every war we've fought. As for DU in boxes. ...Think of radioactive material in a missile silo or a reactor. Obviously it is fairly safe until it's unleashed.
