Hi Lizzie,

Before getting into Gray Davis, I'd like to let you know that I've enjoyed your posts and insights into the IT business here on SI since before the "Tudor" era. :)

It's true that a large part of CA's latest flood of red ink was due to the so called "deregulated" electricity fiasco. Those who came up with that disastrous bad joke were indeed irresponsible (and I know that it was done on Wilsons watch). Davis and the CA legislature merely exacerbated the deficit problem with profligate growth in spending and regulations.

I feel truly sorry for anyone who tries to earn a honest living in CA (if you're a bum, wino, or welfare recipient, it's a different story). It's a great place to visit but I'd never want to live there again (I bailed out some time ago). Although CA does come up with some good ideas, like decriminalizing pot, it's by far the most over taxed, over regulated, out-of-control nanny state existing west of the Pecos. :)

Get ready for another major league gouging from the bozos in Sacramento. My condolences. :(

True. But Davis put the state into the power business.

And it looks to me like a transparent political ploy to ensure his re-election.
