Hey, Ghost, I know it is tempting, but it is so easy to bash Carter. This is a "hack job," IMO, from a "Anti-San Francisco Chronicle" web site.

Paul Philp appears to be quite angry these days for posts that criticize the Bush folk. This one is the equal of any of those, if not worse.

I repeat what I've said before, I don't know what to do about this kind of posting. Without some consensual standards. Moreover, criticism is good. This one crosses over the line, however, with its lines about how Carter never met a dictator he didn't like. But that's my crossover line, not a consensual one.

Perhaps we could take one step back to an earlier policy in which we agreed to provide some explanations for any of our posts. We asked all posters to explain the significance of the post and offer some short summary of the points that most interested them. Our thought was that would reduce the incidence of posts in which the poster had not even read it and was unprepared to defend the significance. One further comment on that. "Defending the significance" did not mean defending the position in the post; just arguing why it was important for the rest of us to read it.
