- I'm tired of hearing the ridiculous "Bush is doing it for the oil" The US gov't and citizens don't take the benefit you suggested, I guess facetiously. The profiteers gain enormous profits from involvement in handing out those contracts. Yes, Bush is indeed in it for the oil, among other profiteering and domestic political benefits. To say this Oil-based administration does not count oil as a primary factor is blind. There are literally trillions in oil wealth to be handed out and profited from. Neither US social security nor national security, as you suggest, benefit.
