Most thought the conflict would then last up to three months, though one said
it could take longer and eight thought it would be over in a month

I'm surprised they think it would take so long, unless they are including mop-up operations in the estimate. How many men do they think will be willing to fight to the death for Saddam Hussein? My guess from what I've read, not that I'm a military expert, is that the war will take days, not weeks, and the US forces will simply go around & surround any pockets of resistance.

The chief danger is that Saddam & kin will try to kill as many people as they can out of spite. For this purpose, they don't have to be able to kill US soldiers; Iraqi civilians will do just as well, since the US will be blamed for all Iraqi deaths, including those who die at Iraqi hands. Cf. the Israeli/Palestinian conflict for the template for this line of moral reasoning.
