I talk to several people every day – real, regular people. Politics is not the main subject of our encounters, but I do try to get a feel for what they are thinking. I am a New Yorker – maybe things are different in other parts of the country – but it appears to me that most folks in our neck of the woods have a pretty solid grasp of the dangers we are facing. Dangers of action – and of inaction. Is there some sort of a “silent majority” out there? I think that is a likely possibility. After all, President Bush seems to have a rather solid support among the population – much more than from the press and intelligencia.
