Tim, you're sort of the resident expert on missiles and the like so you may have some thoughts on what happened today with the shuttle. The Columbia was the oldest shuttle.......it started flying in 1981. Isn't that pretty old? Airlines consider their fleet old if the average age is more than ten years.....and shuttles have to endure a lot more stress than a plane. I have to believe that age may have played a major factor in the shuttle's breakup as it reentered.

What's your thoughts?

Its not a sudden point. The "deflation" takes some time. But it is pretty much done. Because of the artifical inflation I would not compare Bush's poll results to previous polls of Bush's support but rather to the poll results for other presidents. Bush does pretty well here. Another thing to look at is the sucess of the Republicans in the most recent elections.

I think that if his percentage acceptance does not drop further, then he will compare favorably with past presidents. However, if the numbers continue to worsen, then I think that will not be true.

Since the Nov. elections, Bush's numbers have dropped precipitously.......they must be keeping K. Rove up at night.
