Tech,

The shuttle is a brick headed for earth in a controlled crash. Once re-entry is initiated the laws of gravity prevail. There is no going back. Also from a retired fighter pilot friend of mine at that speed anything that would take that craft out of straight and narrow flight would result in total destruction. You don't pull out or barrel roll or do anything else at that speed except make gradual s turns to burn off speed.
