I agree with most of what you say. However there is another side to it. Dulles's I and II and the whole Iraq, Amoco, Saudi, United Fruit Company, SA and South African group of adventures. Why did the US interfere with Nicaragua, Honduras, Chile, Argentina and South Africa's governments in the past? Why did the kill Mossadegh of Iraq? Why did they help overthrow the government of South Africa Answer, American Interests. American Commercial interests. Gold, money, oil, sugar, rubber, etc.. Even Cuba has its sole problem with the US for foreclosure and nationalization of Sugar plantations, Casinos and mining claims, that were defrauded of their rightful Spanish owners by puppet regimes and payola 65% prior. The US has "invaded" about ten countries due to nationalization of US commercial interests in foreign countries. Foreign nationalists are keenly aware of this, if the US citoyesn are not. This is chiefly why you see Yanqui go Home so popularly emblazoned on many foreign walls. It ain't all a communist conspiracy. It is the CIA/MIC "military industrial complex" that Eisehower warned us about, working hand in glove. Amoco is a branch of the CIA. It started many of the more unpopular regimes in the middle east, including the Israeli, Saud, Kuwaiti and Iraqui empires. Play ball with the CIA and american oil and you can do anything you want, even use poison gas on your "friends."

Slider there is plenty of doubt.
I think there are liars on both sides.

members.cox.net

This is quite interesting.
I think Bush is not being honest about many many things.
It would not surprise me at all if he knows the facts and is an out and out liar.

I can not prove or disprove this article.
However, I am positive Bush is stretching (at the VERY least) to make his case. Stretching how big a threat Hussein is, how many weapons he has, who he has used them on, what this war is really all about (oil and revenge) and countless other things no doubt. Pakistan and North Korea are far bigger threats than Hussein. Ties to Hussein and terrorist groups are laughble. There are plenty of ties to Terrorists and Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and North Korea. Not one shread of reasonable evidence has Al Queda ties to Hussein.

It is quite possible Bush is a simpleton gun-slinging Cowboy who believes what he is told and has trusted the wrong people.

OTOH it is quite possible that he has been bought buy special interest groups and is one of the most corrupt presidents ever.

I will certainly be glad when he is gone.

Bush is
a) clueless
b) a liar
c) paid off
d) some combination of the above

I vote for d)

Slider:

That was a great post. It is the most succinct and clear explanation of Bush's case. He should hire you to go on the talking head shows to explain America's position. The people he is using are not doing such a great job.

<China and Korea must and will be dealt with>

You make me laugh. China is ascending into new heights of economic prowess. The US can't 'deal' (if deal is what you mean by 'neutralizing') with China.
It can't deal with China economically (do you know that Chinese farmers are causing lots of anxiety to the garlic farmers in Gilroy, CA, because they are pricing their garlic at less than half the price of the Gilroy farmers).

It can't deal with China militarily (you can search the Internet for China's military strength, least of all the fact that its military is the largest on this earth).

And here's a hint of China's growing influence. The Chinese internet portals, SINA, SOHU and NTES were trading at 2 dollars or less six months ago. They have appreciated more than 500%. You may call it a bubble if you like. I, for one, am holding onto NTES until it reaches 40.
