My son feels that since he used to head Haliburton, and Iraq has oil, that automatically makes the war corrupt. And that seems to be what AS is saying.

Since when is being in the oil business automatically corrupting? Frankly, it is just a convenient standin for ad hominem criticism of conservatives.

It is difficult for me to understand. The oil industry is one which has to deal with complex international relationships in an almost real-time basis, is subject to overnight political changes and economic events.

I believe the villainization of the oil industry began in the late 70s when oil companies realized so-called "windfall profits". They paid dearly for this mistake in the form of a "Windfall Profits Tax" imposed on oil companies for at least ten years.

Since that time, the oil companies have been to blame for all our ills.
