Ex-BOJ Board Member Nakahara to Be Next Bank Chief, Kyodo Says
By Tomomi Sekioka

Tokyo, Feb. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Nobuyuki Nakahara, a former Bank of Japan board member, is expected to become a next BOJ governor, replacing Masaru Hayami, Kyodo news reported, without giving details.

Some ministers and officials in Prime Minister Koizumi's ruling Liberal Democratic Party say they want the next central bank chief to adopt an inflation target, which implies pumping cash into the economy to push up prices by a targeted amount over a certain period.

Hayami's five-year term ends March 19. (Kyodo News, 2-3) For Kyodo Web site, see {KYDO }.
