Suddenly, the first of many polls came out saying that the American public wanted the issue sanctioned by the UN before the US took any action. Who got their ass over to the UN pronto? In case, you're confused, his name rhymes with tush.

I already corrected one liberal on this issue on the thread today. I'm not doing it again.

Only in post 9-11 America would a rush to war with Iraq get Bush even 50% in the polls. 9-11 and the Bushie attempt to confuse and combine Al Qaida and Saddam (they're both Arab types after all) have led to unusual support for this war effort in middle America. But in Europe they're not buying it and I wonder how the hell Blair thinks he's going to get re-elected? Maybe they see a quick war. Maybe they are just bluffing to scare Saddam. Maybe they want the oil. Or all of the above. In any case, Bush's post State Of The Union poll numbers may wither in a week or two. This shuttle disaster helps Bush (sorry to be cynical about the tragedy) but after that we're going to have to face the fact we have a lot of serious national problems, Saddam being not even in the top ten. I would actually place North Korea and Al Qaida above Saddam, two foes who are not getting much of Bush's attention. Why is that do you think? I can't help but deduct that it all leads back to oil and polls. After all an "easy" war gets good poll numbers. A real war in Korea would make Bush's approvals plummet like a rock.
