Ted Re..The problem seems to be pointing more and more to that chunk hitting the left wing. I don't understand why they didn't check it when they were in earth orbit.

They don't have the ability to go under the shuttle. In addition, even if there was damage, there was no way to fix it.


I thought there was no up or down in space.....if so, they could have gone 'under' it to fix it. I don't think they even looked at it.
