I dont share your opinion that "it was doomed".

scientists and other experts (much more expertise than I have), are working thru the data they have, to produce some information.

Please, lets give them a chance ?

It is a hypothesis but doesn't make anything clear yet. One more clue for them to work with. It is quite a coincidence that both launch and finish seem to start with the left wing but they need to prove that hypothesis.

I agree Larry, I think NASA weighed the risk/reward ratio of bringing them home on the damaged Shuttle, and went for it, and lost. You review that close up video, and see that 'brick like' insulation smashing into that fragile tile, and that is scary. These are the kind of guys who talk about "breakage," meaning death.

NASA is starting to rack up a pretty impressive death list, what is it now, 17 or so. They are a terrible organization, a Government agency. Think of the INS, FBI, IRS, etc..........look how bad they are. NASA has ZERO imagination. China wants to go to Mars, Russia wants to go to Mars, NASA, no, they want to do minor scientific experiments in Earth orbit. Cheez!!
