(if I may call you shirley, that is.. :0) When the US overthrows Saddam and the FULL STORY of what he's put that country through for the past 30 years is revealed, do you think there will be anything but vindication for the US taking such a major stand against him?? It would be seriously different were the US taking such action against a democracy, or even a stable, non-violent dictatorship... But the "world" become hostile over Saddam?? Only the most warped of personalities would get hostile over Saddam being overthrown. There is also something called playing fair and according to rules (i.e. international treaties & agreements) and not like a bully. Excuse me?? Saddam is the bully here... He's the one who has bullied his own people for decades, bullied the Iranians, bullied the Kuwaitis, and tried to bully the Saudis.... I hardly see it being a case where someone who beats the crap out of the bully can be properly called one themselves. A vigilante maybe, but a bully... no..This reminds me of George Orwell's "Animal Farm". I think it was the pigs who said "All animals are equal, but some are more equal then others"... Did you ever read what Orwell said about totalitarian regimes (which at the time were into goose-stepping)???:"One rapid but fairly sure guide to the social atmosphere of a country is the parade-step of its army. … The goose-step, for instance, is one of the most horrible sights in the world, far more terrifying than a dive-bomber. It is simply an affirmation of naked power; contained in it, quite consciously and intentionally, is the vision of a boot crashing down on a face. Its ugliness is part of its essence, for what it is saying is "Yes, I am ugly, and you daren't laugh at me." … Beyond a certain point, military display is only possible in countries where the common people dare not laugh at the army." slate.msn.com And if I'm not mistaken, I believe the republican guard of Iraq do the goose step as well, or used to.. It's apparently not easy to do with precision, so if the quality of troops decline, they might have stopped doing it... Apparently very hard on the knees and and ankles as well... Hawk Hawk
