"right to butcher civilians."

Hardly butchery imo, especially when compared with suicide bombings or when PA shoot Israeli children in the head while in their beds or how the PA conducts itself with "collaborators" or dissenters. Often Israel gives a heads-up or warning the day before bombs are going to fly. Haven't you ever wondered when the PA police stations get bombed that they are usually vacated. I remember seeing on TV PA women crying after blood covered and smiling PA men tore to shreds captured Israelis. They were crying because they knew the bombs would be dropping in response to that "butchery." Never get that kind of warning from the PA.

<< I am not that familiar with the events, but it looked like he found the peace plan unacceptable for some reason. >>

Arafat rejected the peace plan because it didn't call for the destruction of Israel.

<< I cannot see how this is an excuse for killing of Palestinian civilians. >>

Is it justifiable to kill Palestinian civilians who are attacking Israeli citizens?
