Correct. Nor does choosing an ally of convenience (an enemy of an enemy, for example) preclude - other than via some characteristically unrealistic, ivory tower philosophic conventions - our reserving the right to strike them, if need be, in other times.

Does it make sense that you are strongly supporting of someone but not its main goal and policy?
