Wahabis in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere see Iraq as an obstacle to Iranian expansion. Since they believe that Shias are not true Muslims, they are opposed to Iran and for that reason are sympathetic to Iraq.

Yes, regime change in Iraq could lead to a confrontation with Iran. One million displaced Shias would move back into Iraq with revenge on their minds. This turn of events would not sit well with Wahabis.

>>> Al-Qaida's desire for US military action plays into White House strategy precisely because it enables the group to declare forceful opposition to US action, and consequent support for the Saddam Hussein regime. The end result is to make it easier for the US administration to nurture in people's minds a connection between Iraq and al-Qaida. This may aid domestic support for the war; it is also just what al-Qaida wants.<<<

Day to day, month to month vs. year to year, decade to decade. Quite a contest. Especially when one considers that America operates on the former and Al Qaeda on the latter. That in mind, let's then add this up:

Turkey, Iran Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Yemen--did I leave any out? Oh, why not. Let's also add Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Algeria, Etriea, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgystan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Afghanastan, Amenia, Pakistan and a whole lotta of etc., especially places like Indonesia, East Timor, Phillipines, Maylaysia and even more etc.

Next think European Union--both old and new Europe. Anyone care to guess what Al Qaeda actually has in mind? I suspect their work is not aimed at present generations but generations to come. Read: Long-term!

The Fundamentalist short-term heads of White House of the USA should be cognizant of this and act accordingly. Putting war into Iraq and possibly Iran next will only fuel the fires for greater opposition, not support, for America and what our nation represents. All of this is seen from their eyes; not our own. After all, our own eyes are glued to the tube and not even watching the news!

To all: This is just a food for thought type post, take it as you will.
