I'm not married, but if I were and some scumbag raped my wife and impregnated her I'd push for an immediate abortion. However, if the wife wanted to keep the child it's her right. Men can have an opinion but must always have to bow to the woman's choice in the end. After all it's her nine months of ordeal and years of mothering. And every pregnancy is also a potential threat to the mother's life, not to mention very expensive. Let's deal with the $$$ issue now. We have no guaranteed health care for mothers in this country such as they have in more socialist countries. Ironically those who oppose abortion rights also oppose national health care. HMO's usually wont let you join if you're pregnant. So who pays for an unwanted pregnancy and unwanted child? I dont have kids yet but my buddy recently told me his 5 year old daughter costs him $30,000 a year. Granted you dont have to spend that much but if you have no health insurance and no job, what then? Will the government which denies abortion rights then guaranteed payment for delivery and child care? I think not.
