Yawn. Private industries, lured by government-posted bounties of far less than NASA's annual budget, would have come up with those advances and more in far less time.

Don't get me wrong, I deeply admire and respect those pilots and scientists who take the risks that go along with space exploration...but I'd rather those initiatives be moved entirely to the private sector.
