Even without the war the economy stinkeroos. It's a mass psychology thing. Partly because iof massive government debt spinning out of control. Partly because people like Kenny Lay are still walking free and people dont trust corporations, Wall Street or the SEC yet. Partly because people are scared by all the war talk and Homeland Security paranoia and human nature is to become a squirrel and save your nuts. The whole economy is in hiberation except the the military and medical sectors which continue making money, and oil companies are fairly happy now too. Very high oil prices though not much demand. Real estate has been booming because people are squirreling and re-financing, but if that ends we're in really deep caca. That said, this is not The Great Depression. Not yet anyway.

Expect this current quarter to put us back into recession. The only technicality which might change that is military spending which doesn't do much for the average American.
