That's why it's our patriotic duty to be a check and balance against absolute power (and the corruption that always comes with it) in this country. And right now that power rests with the Bushies. Beware the industrial-military complex if it gets too powerful, Eisenhower warned us as he left office. Now that warning seems appropriate. Conservatives too should become watchdogs. Blind trust in your party's leraders and their corporate cronies can result in great harm to our country and your own party. Just look what happened with Watergate. It was institutionalized corruption and secrecy of an imperial presidency. But Bush may leave Nixon behind if we're not careful to scrutinize him and let our voices he heard. I'm sure there are many Republicans now who wish McCain had been the one. If he had, no Texas energy scandals, no chickenhawk saber rattling and more unified country and world. As it is this is the age of great anxiety and distrust. And she Sean hannitys of the world who tell us how honest and wonderful Bush is are part of the problem. even Hannity ought to be more of a watchdog for our democracy, and admit flaws where they can plainly be seen. He is not doing us any good with the blind praise. Let Bush earn our admiration the hard way. So far, except for a brief period after 9-11, he hasn't.
