320 Canadian Diamonds Recovered

By Sayre Priddy Posted: 2/3/2003

(Rapaport…February 3, 2003) Northern Empire Minerals, Hunter Exploration Group and Stornoway Ventures, all Canada-based mining exploration companies, have announced that 320 diamonds have been recovered from two separate kimberlite occurrences on their jointly owned Aviat Project property on the Melville Peninsula in Nunavat Territory, Canada.

The first kimberlitic sample, weighing 186.05 kilograms, returned 228 diamonds, while the second occurrence, weighing 46 kilograms, returned 92 diamonds.

The Aviat Project partners also announced that they have acquired over 5.5 million additional acres of land surrounding and immediately adjacent to the original Aviat land package. The project now covers over seven million acres, representing one of the largest land possessions intended for diamond exploration in Canada.
