should I send them an email? Yeah. I don't think they'll appreciate it, though. :-) That foam that hit the wing is supposed to be pretty dense. I don't know what is on the surface of the wing, but even if it is metal, I would expect it to be at least painted and more likely have some sort of heat resistant coating. The pictures I've seen seem to show those black carbon composite tiles coming over the edge of the wing onto its top at both the front and back. Which makes the photo even more impossible.
