the whole insurance industry is getting slapped around...

Chubb is at a new low
(thankfully a CFO departure executed the auto-short rule there a few months ago)
NFS losing ground (they are in the life and annuity business)
MBIA and Ambac not exactly looking good

all of these guys are 'beating' numbers, but doing so after excluding investment losses. of course, a principal element of their BUSINESS is investing; to present earnings excluding investment losses is the equivalent of me touting my up 480% year last year, excluding trades on which i lost money. people are starting to see through this.

that AIG LONGGGG-term chart looks major-league ugly.
