HAIN The "Celestial Group" <g>,the manufacturer of "natural organic" and snack food products under brand names that are sold as "better-for-you" <g> is having a good day today after its new earnings report.

The stock is up more than 21% and volume is now over 1M.<g>

The earnings on the last previous Q had been also good, but the stock hit a new 52wks. L on Monday. It started the up-move yesterday in anticipation of the earnings results.

During 2001 the company made several acquisitions including Fruit Chips B.V., a Netherlands-based company that makes low fat fruit, vegetables and potato chips;Yves Veggie Cuisine,a Vancouver based company that makes "soy protein meat alternative products" and Lima N.V., a Belgian natural and organic foods manufacturer.

And last December it also acquired Imagine Foods, Inc., a privately held non-dairy beverage company that makes rice and soy milks, organic soups and organic frozen desserts in the US,Canada and Europe.

Today's 2ndQ earnings report of $0.24/share was better than expected by the analysts.(The net income rose 57% to $8.2M on record revenues of $123 M, a 17% increase over the 2ndQ of 2002.)

The stock still has to deal with the Jan.8-Jan.9 double top at the 15.83 level before it can test its Dec.11 H of 16.75 <g>

But the stock has been selling just below book and insiders and institutions have been buying lately.<g>

It seems that it should continue to show the benefits of its previous acquisitions and if the stock can retest its Jan4,2002 at 27.86 it still will be a good % gain from present levels.<g>
