George, Greider correctly identifies the Achilles heel in Dubya's mad scheme. There's only one way that World War III will be started. That is with a debasement of the U.S. currency. It is already starting. Recent pronouncement by the Central Bankers Greenspan and Bernanke indicate that they are full speed ahead on cranking out the dollars, "at no cost to us." This return to seigniorage is pure folly. There are growing indicators from the price of gold, to the strength of the Euro to the dramatic new changes appearing in the ledgers of the BIS that Fortress America is about to suffer from a really debilitating bout of inflation. Since the world of bankers and multinationals that Bush represents is the world's largest collection of scoundrels, thieves and con men, there is no counterforce to Bush's madness. The flummoxed American public and local and regional government representatives are powerless to fight the evil intent of the Bushies, and the cynically uncaring response to Mr. Bush's missteps that Mr. Market will render with a vengeance. It appears that the dollar is under attack. Price of gold is up dramatically since December, as is the Euro. The dollar is collapsing, and once this destruction gains speed, there will be a cascading destruction of its basic integrity. The world will move to make the Euro the reserve currency for petroleum trading. France, Germany and OPEC will lead the charge. Who can fault someone like Hugo Chavez for going along with this change, understanding that the Bush team were instigators and cheerleaders for those who attempted the coups against Chavez. Who will fault Lula of Brazil, who sees the U.S. as a destructive force for the bulk of the citizens of Brazil? America will be ostracized from the world community. Then, no matter how much the militarists extract from the U.S. taxpayer to perpetrate their mad schemes, the endgame will be inevitable. But it won't be pretty. -Ray
