I was thinking jesuit was jewish, I guess not!

Seriously though, USF (which is really pretty small compared to the others) is a private campus with religious backers so thats the root of this. SF is a pretty multicultural, multireligious place.

The university has inherited the rich vision of St. Ignatius of Loyola who founded the Society of Jesus (also known as the Jesuits) in 1540. Reflecting the values of the Spiritual Exercises, Jesuit education affirms the ultimate goodness of the world as created, loved, and redeemed by God; it seeks to find God in all things.
