Early Christians were as tolerant as they come. Turn the other cheek was literal. The essential message of Christianity it tolerance. Judge not and who is thy neighbor. Islam can go either way based upon how it is taught. In the Koran tolerant and intolerant words can be found that merge secular and religious issues. The Jews have been tolerant throughout the AD history. The bible if the source of religion also mixes secular and religious issues and can also be taught tolerant and intolerant by how it is taught. I'm hindu ignorant and have no comment.

America however is Christian and our Constitution tells us to render to America that which is America's and to God that which is God's if you are so inclined. But God endowed man with the right to declare the above.

If one is the underdog one is tolerant by need. It is when secular issues are messed with religion that it becomes intolerant. This has nothing to do with the fundamental message in the religion. Fundamentalism is respect for the core values.

All Christian core value's are tolerant. Love thy neighbor as thy self. Only God can judge. It is clear that many Christian may not get the core values and what they mean. But that is ignorance and not intolerant core values.

I don't see how you interpreted an intend to imply quality, or tendency. Fundamental, foundation, core, central.
