We're the one group at the moment in the U.S. that is most deeply against the Iraq war.<<< For what it's worth, I understand that many of those in the current administration, including many who are seriously in favor of war, have not served in the armed forces, nor will their children. But these, I presume, are patriotic. Of course, it's quite clear that Vidal is not a supporter of the system --- hence the contradiction. As you say, perhaps "patriotic" is stretching it, it may even be the wrong word, but I couldn't/can't think of the right word.
