Roach arguing budget def. doesnt have saving cushion:
the net national saving rate (2002)...fell to a record low of 1.6% of GDP... (1981 it was about 9%)

I'm not sure I buy this because after 20 yr up cycle personal assets should be higher than 1980 esp. after rust belt cave in. So if RE & market accounts (LOL)..etc were cashed in partially into savings then it must be closer to 9%. Of course the joke here is market accounts will mostly be cashed out at the retching bottom.
