I pretty much agree with your observations. ADX seems like a derivation of momentum or stochastics, neither of which tell you much that the price chart doesn't already.

The best way to use stochastics seems to be as a momentum indication, IMO. If it's in the 80+ area, the momentum is with the longs. If in the 20 and under region, it's with the shorts. If it's in between- it's not too useful, especially if it keeps reversing direction.

Then again, there could be other ways to use it that help more. I'm just not schooled in those ways. Maybe someone else can weigh in on it.
