If all politics is local, then Bush is going down in 2004.
I also wonder about the 45% (or less) who say they will actually vote for Bush (whether they support him now in general or not). Bush can boast of 75% support in many conservative states (Texas, Utah, Miss, Alabama, etc.) and 65% support in states like Ohio, Virginia and Indiana. So does that mean battleground states (the only ones that matter) are even less than 45% for Bush? If so, and if there is no strong third party candidate sapping votes from the Democrat, Bush may not even be able to make it close. But the Democrats will need to snatch N. Carolina, Florida or Missouri, one of those biggish battleground states to make sure.

Did you know though that the real state that made the difference in 2000 was little New Hampshire. McCain last-minute campaigned there and won it for Bush. But that little state for one will go for Kerry next time.
