Great column! The United States has saved the world more than once, and been magnanimous in victory more than once, and voluntarily tethered itself to multilateral institutions when it bestrode the world, at the end of World War II. It has sought justice and reconciliation on its own shores, and it has sought to promote the triumph of freedom in a messy world abroad. To now have cheap, unfounded slander about its motives and behavior infest the conversation of the "knowing" is very difficult to take.....
