This image shows a perspective looking down. The shadows however shows where the radar source of illumination is coming from. watman.com

Looking down is the normal perspective for displaying images independent of the point of observation. But knowing all the geometry one can create any view...

Superimposing moving target data or a track over time is also quite simple.

I was under the impression that we only had transitory satellite imaging capability.

Probably overlapping coverage between satellite and airborne reconaissance.
