Something else to consider is how many of these other M.E. countries will pursue nuclear weapons once Iraq acquires them. Some countries will opt for U.S nuclear protection, others will not. Saudi Arabia has been reported to have visited Pakistan's nuclear facilities. Are they thinking of buying some to counter Saddam? Are we prepared to have nukes throughout the M.E. in the midst of all these islamic fundies?

...excellent post..

The reality is that it's been 12 years and we haven't invaded him or overthrown him.

An undeniable testimony to the greatness of our nation.

Now we must work as hard at peace as we have at war.

There seems to be a universal law of like breeding like, as exemplified by things happening in bunches, and the rule of threes.

We must always advocate peace, as we have so admirably done in the past, and not ever, ever give up using it as a tactic, (which is defined as an expedient for achieving a goal).

We are powerful enough now to truly be able to do so.

If we do not actively wage peace now, we are bequeathing a legacy of eternal warfare to our children, since unlike wars of the past, the war on terror has no discernable end point.

<It all kind of depends on what will motivate Bejing to control their unruly client state.>

Until the USA stops sabre rattling over Taiwan, I think we can expect to see North Korea acting as the northern threat.

If I was Hu Jintao I'd be very happy for North Korea to keep the USA busy while I focused on ensuring Taiwan increasingly is tied to the mainland, eventually becoming part of the China realm [even if only as a special economic zone with a constitutional separation in some federal form].

I'd be inclined to provide a nuclear capacity to North Korea [not too much of course] so that if push really comes to shove, there is a LOT of shove in the opposite direction.

Meanwhile, the real game progressed a move. Deep Junior flummoxed Garry Kasparov today with some intricate skirmishing over on the right of the board, with Garry's King wrestling Junior's Queen with a knight separating them. It was a draw, though Garry was white and looking for a victory. He was too scared to take the bait and enter a big fight - especially since he was under time pressure.

The real geopolitical battle is being played out in that sphere; Cyberspace powered by electronics and photonics [It] vs Humans powered by wet chemistry [United Nations and USA]. I'm on the cyberspace side. We are gaining power while the medievalists and globalist democratic empire gang fight it out over fuel for the industrial revolution.

By the time y'all wake up, we'll have you. What's funny is that I can even say it out loud, right in your faces, and there's nothing you can do about it, even if you do wake up. Ted Kaczynski saw us coming, but y'all stuck him in the slammer because he had no clue how to fight back and adopted the Osama model.

We the Sheople are gathering power every day. One day, we'll have our United States of Freedom and It. Our currency will be the Q. I guess it'll take about 10 or maybe 20 years. But sometimes, as with the fall of the USSR, things happen a lot faster than expected, when the time is right. When the fruit is ripe, it drops!

Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Israel and Chechnya are trivia from the 19th and 20th centuries.
