Microsemi Introduces New PIN Diode Series For High Voltage, High Power RF Designs

Tuesday February 18, 8:34 am ET

Targets MRI, Antenna Switching, Power Supplies, Heating Applications

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 2003--Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq:MSCC - News), a leading manufacturer of power conditioning semiconductor products has announced a new PIN diode series for high power RF switching applications found in medical MRI systems, antenna and band switching, power supplies and RF heating.

Designated the HUM3002/3003/3004 Series, the new diodes are designed for applications where high isolation, low loss and low distortion are critical, as well as the ability to handle high power. Voltages range from 2-4 kV with an RF power handling capability of 40 kW.

The new diodes are packaged in an easy-to-mount modified non-magnetic DO-4 structure ideal for MRI systems. Microsemi's exclusive SOGO(TM) passivation process provides superior stable high voltage operation. Surge currents of 150 amperes at half sine 8.3 ms are handled easily. To prevent arcing, the package design has no internal cavity.
