Pu-leaze. if not for the oil Bush wouldn't even give Saddam the time of day. Dont tell me about principles. Iraq isn't even on most peoples' top ten list of worries. But it's Bush's obsession. He has devoted the last six months to it, along with campaigning/fundraising. Everything else he's all but ignored. Also, when was the last time Iraq attacked the US? I forgot. It's a fallacy about Bush defending US from Iraq. Maybe the Iraqi people. But since when do we care about them? A bunch of moustached idiots so far as I can tell. And how can you be "thankful" for the worst economy since the 1970's? and the worst stock market losses since the Great depression?

Ask yourself honestly, if Gore were President and was pushing to attack Iraq, would you care? At least care anywhere near as much? Especially if Gore had (ab)used the presidency to time the war to drown out economic debate prior to an important election and skated through it? Actually you'd probably be against the war, wouldn't you? Be blaming Gore for covering up his shoddy economic record and other scandals? And what if were doing it with Occidental Petroleum being the main beneficiary? Occi being a Gore family stock-holding which right-wingers like to call the kettle black about. You'd be crying holy hell corruption. Bottomline, Saddam ain't gonna attack the US. He's only important because of oil and the fact Bushies are oil-obsessed. Everything else is a minor concern. That said, there's gonna be a war and I'm not going to protest it. However I will call a spade a spade every time I see the hypocrisy. And I will continue worrying how the hell we're supposed to pay for all this Bush militarism. And I will wonder why Osama isn't caught and Kenny Lay isn't in jail.
