Over-spending right now is not going to win him any converts. It seems like more of an act of desperation. He knows what happened to his father and he's desperately trying to avoid doing the same things. Ironically his refusal to rescind some of the tax cuts (like his father did) may lose him the election because of record deficits everyone will be worried about. And all this spending. Hey, I'm all for social programs but he's simply promising too much. If he were honest he'd say, either you can have your tax cuts or all these programs, but not both.
