Bush ...Bush won because of his name and his appeal to conservatives and because Gore was not the strongest candidate, made weaker by Nader's votes.

Rightly or wrongly, Bush had a better perception of integrity. No one wanted to go through Bills legal travils again, and rightly or wrongly, Gore by association, was smeared.
