You try taking meaningful pictures of something hundreds if not thousands of miles away and travelling at miles per second relative to you. Without very very specialized equipment it is impossible.

As for your comment about astronauts moving slowly and therefore avoiding damage to the tiles. Maybe. But try doing subtle movements in a bulky spacesuit. In addition the whip motions due to the tether would result in going a lot faster than expected making the required intial motion even more subtle. Doing things in space is very very hard - even when it is trained for and with lots of specially crafted handholds.
