Many reasons. In no particular order and right off the top of my head, trust of Colin Powell, trust of George Bush, supporting evidence from Iraqi defectors, the long history of deception practiced by Saddam's government, and lastly it fits the non-cooperation which Blix and El Baradei recently testified to. You have to ask yourself - who do you believe - Saddam Hussein and his cronies or Colin Powell and George Bush? You think a sovereign country should be invaded over them? Yes, when combined with Saddam's history (starting two wars, committing massive crimes against his own people, a policy of deception toward international inspectors, massive efforts to develop many different forms of WMD's). I can't understand why anyone in their right mind would bend over backwards to give Saddam the benefit of the doubt at this stage. How much does he have to do for people to realize he is an evil man? You said "not to play the devil's advocate". Actually you are doing that. Iraq will continue to be a sovereign country after Saddam's government is gone and the country will be much better off.
