say what you want but most of these guys supported Bush aggressively in the elections. I was not a Bush basher either and actually most of his policies I support. That poll sends a message though to get his finger off the trigger and try to calm down and soothe the global climate vs. doing what he is now which is stirring the shit so to speak.

We learned in vietnam that the best way to win wars is with a strong, global economy. The sad realization that I think many of these CEOs have come to is that the finalization of iraq will not end the global economic shutdown we are seeing now. Its the whole ambiance of this administration that is the problem.

This is salvageable for Bush if we go in and out of iraq and solve it quickly... and start to treat international matters more thoughtfully ala the Powell approach. Or just put Powell out there more.

Not funny really -- we quite needlessly isolated ourselves diplomatically on the issue of Iraq and it has been left to Powell time and time again to dig us out of the hole. We should never have been in the hole in the first place -- and that was my beef with Cheney because he did as much as anybody if not more to put us in that diplomatic hole.

>> . If there weren't so many groups defending Iraq to suit their own commercial and political self-interest, <<

what is wrong with france or russia looking out for their own self-interest? isn't that their responsibility? if america was looking out for our self-interest we wouldn't be going after saddam. if he is such a threat as people make him out to be, we would let his neighbors take care of him -- specifically israel -- clearly the most powerful and capable military power in the region. (soley because of the u.s.)
