I don't know if I totally understand (your argument)..if we ever dictate oil prices (I'm assuming you mean below the mid-20's band that was in place in 00/01, etc)...say, we dictate $9 a barrel, it will decimate the economies in Middle East, Nigeria, Mexico....we will have to bail those people out, or watch the rise of radicalism in those countries (and Venezuela) for those economies will not turn on their own anytime soon....we can subsidize them thru oil or not, but we will wind up with the bill, or face a huge, larger long-term security threat, IMO. I would think that stable $20-25 oil over term keeps the most people stable, happy...

I do agree that Bush adm. has made many decisions favoring friends, but I don't know if this is the best example of that...
