There is lots of talk out there about the spike in the put/call ratio this morning. On Street Insight, Peter Lobravico is reporting that a customer sold 300,000 January 45 Nasdaq 100 Trust (QQQ:Amex) puts.

There is also a big surge in volume in the QQQs, which means this is probably a variation of a strategy called a bear put spread where you buy a higher strike price and sell a lower one.

I'm no options expert and I'll let someone else delve into the nuances of this strategy, but this is what's skewering the put/call ratio and the QQQ volu
