Plug Power (PLUG: news, chart, profile) leapt more than 16 percent in early action. It was just one of a number of alternative energy companies that saw boosts in their share prices ahead of a speech on energy independence by President Bush scheduled for Thursday afternoon. Other movers include Ballard Power (BLDP: news, chart, profile), H Power (HPOW: news, chart, profile), FuelCell (FCEL: news, chart, profile), and Millenium Cell (MCEL: news, chart, profile).

Why did you choose it over these?

Please keep us up to date on that and Ballard fuel cell as well, when you think of it.... Listening to his speech today was one of the more exciting concepts that's come down the pike for awhile....

Really hate to say this...but if we weren't going to give 15 BILLION over the next ten years to Africa for Aids....perhaps we would have more than $1.2 BILLION over the next five years for hydrogen power....

Who knows, if we could make that type of power work, and cheaply, and be non oil dependent....we could be donating all sorts of BILLIONS to many of the US and world health problems...
