-they were also the largest arms supplier to Iraq prior to the Gulf War, probably expect to be again after the sanctions are lifted

-they led flight into Iraq along with Russia in 2000, in violation of UN sanctions, for supposed humanitarian visits (probably completed oil deals while they were there)

-joined with Russia to prevent Iraq's required war retribution to Kuwait (14+ billion)
