My response to Mary's words were just as you saw from the bolded items....I compared the same words you and I (and everyone else) saw....and put in bold my thoughts on the same words....just as you did...(see below) However you have given me more time to respond a little more fully...(thanks! Aren't you glad? <g>) >>>>>>>>I wasn't so sure about the al Qaeda connection. But I had heard enough to know that Saddam Hussein, with his stockpiles of nerve gas and death-dealing chemicals, is more of a menace than I had thought. I'm not ready for war yet. But Colin Powell has convinced me that it might be the only way to stop a fiend, and that if we do go, there is reason. And my actual words, no bolding, are: Mary has little trust for the Bush Administration. She has made that abundantly clear in her past opinions. She has given NO reason for that distrust, other than her politics don't match those of this Administration. To date, Mary does NOT have privy to Classified National Security information. Maybe that miffs her. Mary says that Saddam is more of a menace than she thought...(aside comment...again, no trust in our Government, and possibly not much reading either.) But NOW, Colin Powell has convinced her that maybe, just maybe, Saddam is in fact, a fiend, and maybe, just maybe, there is "finally a reason for us to go to war." (another aside comment...wonder how many of Saddam's soldiers AND THEIR FAMILIES will die because of the overheard, and now highly publicized, remarks they made...and we (the US/President Bush AND Colin Powell AND the CIA were FORCED to put forward so that Mary and those that think as she does maybe might believe our own Government. And one more thing....does she not understand that Colin Powell went to the UN with President Bush and his other Advisors full approval....Does she or anyone else not understand that President Bush IS Commander in Chief? Your interpretation was: I wasn't so sure about the al Qaeda connection. And your interpretation is as you just stated: I read her bit to say something like Powell convinced me there was a great deal more of a menace here than I had heretofore thought; I was unconvinced about the evidence tying Al Q to Saddam; I'm not ready to go to war; but if we go I'll at least believe there was a reason rather than no reason. OT~~BUT other than this...how are you? Still shoveling snow?
